What is an Advanced Online Degree?

An advanced degree is a university degree higher than a bachelor's degree; so it is a master's or a doctorate. A doctorate is the highest. When you see someone with doctor in their title, you know they have a doctoral degree.
  

Master's Degrees
  

Usually, someone who has a master's degree has a M.A., which is a Master of Arts; or a M.S., which is a Master of Science. It means just what it sounds like -- they have mastered certain skills in their area of expertise: analytics, problem solving, critical evaluation, and other necessary skills. Graduates of MIT or Harvard University are not considered to have M.A. or M.S., but have A.M or S.M. They are the same, but the names are reversed. They are some clever ones at those colleges, aren't they.   

More specific master's include: Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Master of Communication (M.C.), he Master of Music (M.M. or M.Mus.), Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.), Master of Physician Assistant Studies (M.P.A.S.), Master of Art of Teaching (M.A.T.), and the Master of Business Studies (M.B.S.) --- hate to say it but, that is a Master of B.S., right?   

Other differentiations include a full time post-graduate master's for those who hold bachelor's degrees, and executive masters for those who are in executive positions. These would have an E in front, like EMS or EMBA.   

Doctorate
  

This is a degree that specifies that the holder is qualified to teach in the area of expertise. Kinds of doctorates include Research Doctorates, such as those of philosophy, engineering and education; Professional Doctorates, such as those of medicine, law and psychology; and there are Honorary Doctorates, which colleges award to those who have served humanity in compassionate and charitable ways.  

Good Online Universities  

You can get an online degree through good universities like DeVry, University of Phoenix and Keller. Keller offers a master's in business administration (MBA) and others; University offers the same plus Master of Arts in Education and Master of Science in Psychology and others; and DeVry offers most of those plus Master of Public Administration, Information Systems, Project Management and an advanced online degree in human resources.   

These are by far not the only schools that offer advanced online degrees, nor the only programs that are available. Others include Aeronautical Science, Divinity, Military Law; and you can even an advanced respiratory therapy degree online.
